📗 700chars

What is this?

700chars is my method to write a short and concise texts. In this context, "700" stands for the number of used characters (short: chars). Getting a basic understanding of a topic could be quite challenging and time consuming. My "700chars" method consists of three major steps, to save time and organize your research time:

1. Gathering information (in bullet points)
2. Change order of bullet points and combine them to a continous text
3. remove unnecessary and add necessary information

700char texts are very simple and fast created. These texts can be easily changed in future, because they are always limited to 700chars.

Example

You've never heard of the term "merit order" and you want you apply the "700chars" method.

Tip

Use fix time slots for each step and use a timer for your exercise.

Step 1: 🧐 gathering information

Write down some gathere information about your topic in bullet points.

• power plants generate electricity
• they guarantee a continous power supply
• power plants offer their produced electricity to the power exchance for sale
• the order of the grid feed is managed by the so called "merit order"
• the order is also managed by the current price of the electricity
• at the first position is the cheapest producer
• at the last position is the most expensive producer
• the last power plant that is needed for covering the base load, defines the market price
• this price can be charged by all other electricity producers in the merit order

Step 2: ⌨️ create a text

Combine you bullet points to a continous text. Don't spend too much time on the layout. You should also change the order of your bullet points, if it's necessary.

Step 3: ✏️ edit your text

Change your text if you need. Do not exceed the limitation of 700 chars. But also try to use near to 700 chars as possible.

Result

To guarantee a safe and continous power supply, power plants are used. The grid feed of the power plants is defined by the so called merit order. This order is also defined by the current electricity price on power exchance. The cheapest electricity producer can feed in the electricity first, the most expensive producer on the other hand at last. The last power plant that is need for covering the base load, defines the market price. This market price can be charged by every other producer within in the merit order.

Summary

700chars is my method to get basic understanding of a topic. The produced text is fastly written and changed, because of the limitation of 700 chars.
